Larry and I have gotten into several “new” countries for us since his return: Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, and now Nicaragua. Guatemala, coming in a few days, will also be new for us during this section.
We had been STRONGLY advised to stay with the group during the crossing from Costa Rica to Nicaragua. Kevin would even be hiring a “guide” to get us through the chaos. We compared notes with a couple from Idaho. They had ridden all the way from Boise on bikes less comfortable than ours. She was on a Suzuki dirt bike with a lowered frame. Their one-month trip would be ending in Colombia.
A diversion to the Pacific coast led us to a lobster lunch on the beach. Gunter enjoyed this whole fish.
Guillermo and Maria Elena, friends of Terry, hosted our entire group to a festive dinner in Granada. Guillermo’s grandmother had once owned an elegant home near the square in the city. It is now an inn and elegant restaurant. Guillermo played guitar and he and Erwin sang after dinner. A fun evening.
